Given the growing German-African cooperation in the energy sector, the Afrika-Verein (German-African Business Association) will continue to focus on these developments and will organize the 6th German-African Energy Forum.

The significance of the energy sector is being confirmed by the development of the German-African Energy Forum. In 2011 the Forum hosted more than 450 participants from 30 countries; this is again a record attendance. The 250 german participants included numerous senior officials, leaders of well known companies as well as representatives of the german private sector. The Forum has thus evolved as the leading platform for German-African energy relations. An important topic of the conference was the expansion of the renewable energies in Africa. Other new topics in 2011 were “Energy Efficiency” and “Energy & Security”.

From 22nd to 25th April 2012 we will organize the 6th German-African Energy Forum in Hamburg and Hanover, Germany. We are expecting 500 German and African participants from the economic, political and institutional sector. Also, we anticipate a growing participation of the private sector, which is playing a more and more important role at the African energy markets. A new topic will be added to the programme: “Energy & Training”. The potentials of the African energy market and the German-African cooperation will again be discussed. Moreover, the following topics will be covered:

- Oil: Upstream, Downstream & Marketing
- New: Africa Pipeline
- New: Gas-to-Power in Africa:
Natural and Flared Gas – Upstream and Gas-to-Power
- Power Production, Transportation and Distribution: Conventional and Renewable Energies

(Wind, Solar, Biomass, Hydro)
- Energy Efficiency
- Finance and Insurance of African energy projects
- Securing Energy Business
- New: Energy & Training

Within the framework of the Forum we offer an extensive visit of the Hanover Fair, the world’s largest industrial fair. This visit will take place on 25th April 2012 and includes a panel discussion on “Energy Market Africa”.

We are honoured to announce that the Minister of Energy and Water Development of Zambia, Hon. Christopher B. Yaluma, has already confirmed his attendance at the conference.
